Hey! I'm Heidi! I am a Washington State native who currently works in the fast paced world of telecommunications as a Marketing Manager! I got my love for travel from my family who has had me traveling since I was a baby!

Like many people, I was taught to go to get a job, get married, have kids and live happily ever after.  I have never been one to go with the societal norms and instead of having kids and living happily ever after right away, I decided to devote much of each year traveling and having tons of cool experiences all around the world!

Since embarking on that first self paid trip, I've spent the past 10 years sharing my personal journey and travel tips to as many of my friends and family who would listen!  In 2017, I finally decided to start documenting my travels and sharing them with even more people!  So far, I have traveled to over 17 countries and can't wait to travel to even more!

Frequently asked questions

How did you get started traveling?

I really remember my love for travel starting when I was very young. My parents loved to travel and so they made sure we were always going somewhere. When I got my first job and was still living at home, I was able to start paying to take trips with friends and that is really where my own love for travel started.

What was your first international trip?

I mean, here in Washington, we are spoiled to be right next door to Canada. Some wouldn't count that as an international trip really, so then my other first international trip was to Mexico when I was in highschool!

Where did you go to college and what was your major?

Man. I had such an interesting college career. I was always pretty indecisive about what I wanted to do with my life at 18 years old. I still struggle knowing what I want to do with my life as I have so many passions and hobbies. I did some college courses while still in highschool, then at graduation went to UH Hilo for a summer to take classes (and have fun). For 2 years, I then went to University of Oregon, moved home and took some community college courses to finish out my AA. I then ended up finishing at Central Washington University but through a satellite school near my house. I ended up with a Bachelors of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies (AKA, I never figured out what I wanted to major in.) However, I got to take a bunch of different classes from a bunch of different majors. I minored in Psychology.

Should I go to college? Should I travel before or after college?

This one is hard for me. I really appreciated my parents encouraging me to go to college, but looking back at it, at 18, I just wasn't ready to take it seriously. It was the first time I had some real life on my own experiences and I didn't know how to be an adult about it. On the flip side, if I wouldn't have gone to college, I think diving into the world of travel without having any experience on my own before would have also been hard. I had just got my first real job and was just starting to make my own money. Everyone is different. If you are feeling the strong desire to travel, do it! You are only young once. College will always be there if you decide to go that rounte in the future.

Should I study abroad

100% yes! If you are going to college you should! That is the one thing I regret about my college experience was not traveling abroad.

How did you have the money to start traveling?

When I was younger, I was still living at home and just working. Not going to lie, I didn't make that much at my retail job, but knowing that travel was super important to me made my financial decisions pretty easy. I never had a car payment (still have never), I save up money and throw cash down on any car I want. I don't have college debt (thanks mom and dad!) and I really don't live outside my means. I shop on a budget because I love me some deals. Really you have to just make travel your priority.
