I Explored the World's Largest Indoor Cloud Forest in Singapore. Here is my Experience!

Updated: Jul 22

If you visit Singapore, this is a place you must carve time out of your trip to visit! The Supertrees, which can be clearly seen from Marina Bay Sands, are one of the more defining parts of this spot. Gardens by the Bay includes about 12 hot spots for you to visit. The most popular spots to visit if you only have half a day are Cloud Forest, Flower Dome and Supertrees (OCBC Skyway).

Also! Have you caught up on my other Singapore posts? If not, check them out here!

If you are staying at Marina Bay Sands, Gardens by the Bay is super easy to get to by a walkway right outside of Marina Bay Sands. I felt spoiled as we had a 5th floor full length balcony at Marina Bay Sands that allowed me to stare at the Supertrees for 24 hours. We even got to watch the evening light show from our balcony. I know that isn't as great as being right under the trees, but it was still pretty amazing.

Travel Tip: You don't have to worry about buying tickets ahead of time. They advise if you want to see the Flower Dome, Cloud Forest and Supertrees to first only buy the Flower Dome, / Cloud Forest tickets. The Supertrees (OCBC Skyway) is subject to weather so they advise you to come back after viewing the Flower Dome and Cloud Forest to ensure the Supertrees (OCBC Skyway) will be open.

Flower Dome

"Step into the Flower Dome and stand in awe. Spectacular and innovative, it is the largest glass greenhouse in the world as listed in the 2015 Guinness World Records! Be amazed by changing display of flowers and plants from the Mediterranean and semi-arid regions."

I have to admit, I was expecting to step into a greenhouse. Where the outdoor temperature was 90 degrees and the flower dome temperature wasn't too far off. However, I was pleasantly surprised when we stepped into a greenhouse that was 73 degrees inside. I have to admit, it is a bit overwhelming to step into such an expansive space. We didn't know where to start. You could easily spend a few hours here if you are a true plant lover. However, we are more of a plant observer so we could take some photos and move on. I especially loved the succulents in the entry way. You can also see a Californian garden, South African Garden, Flower field (Wizard of Oz scene in the poppy field) and even an Olive Grove. If you are hungry you can also stop for a bite (or drink).

Cloud Forest

"Enter the Cloud Forest, a mysterious world veiled in mist. Take in breath-taking mountain views surrounded by diverse vegetation and hidden floral gems. And learn about rare plants and their fast-disappearing environment."

By far, the Cloud Forest was my favorite part of my trip here. Besides the Supertrees, this is the spot that I had seen the most photos all over social media. When you first walk into the Cloud Forest you see the coolest part (in my opinion) in the whole forest. The giant waterfall, that spans the length of the building, with the amazing lush plants as the backdrop. It really feels out of this world.

Travel Tip: Don't stand here too long or you will enjoy the Cloud Forest soaked!

Take your time. There is a lot to see here. The whole tour of the Cloud Forest is set up to walk in a circle. At one point, you take an elevator all the way to the top of the lost world and slowly make your way back down to the first floor. Each level has something different to see including a crystal field, more views of that amazing waterfall, amazing views of the Marina Bay Sands and a metal walkway that is suspended into the air! I think we spent half of our time here taking photos. There were cool things to see at each turn!

Supertrees

Next, head back over to buy your OCBC Skyway entry tickets (granted the weather permits). We lucked out when we were visiting. It was pretty hot out so I don't think people wanted to be outside. Take the elevator right to the top and walk the Skywalk. Be aware once you step out onto the bridge, it is pretty narrow. There is not a lot of space for people to move by you so you kind of have to keep moving. I definitely enjoyed it but it was a pretty short experience due to those reasons. You can't beat the views though!

The evening light show

Another experience you can't miss is the Supertrees light show. Measuring 72 feet high, the Supertree Grove comes alive 2 times a night with an amazing light show to music. These trees are massive and avatar-like, which is super amazing to see in person!

Show times are:

7:45 and 8:45 PM nightly.

Though we didn't make it in time to get right under the trees, we got to observe the light show from the balcony of our room at the Marina Bay Sands!

Have you visited the Gardens by the Bay? What was your favorite part?
