This blog post was made in collaboration with the Shelburne Hotel. All my opinions are my own.

I have lived in Washington State all my life, but have never been to Long Beach, Washington until now!

Where is Long Beach located?

Long Beach, Washington is located about 3.5 hours from Seattle on the Washington coast.

Where is the Shelburne Hotel located?

Address: 4415 Pacific Way, Seaview, WA 98644

The Shelburne Hotel is located right in the town of Seaview (bordering Long Beach, Washington). You can walk to a good amount of bars and restaurants from the hotel, which is great!

Some history of the Shelburne Hotel

Built in 1896, The Shelburne Hotel is the longest continuously operating hotel in Washington State. During its long life, the Shelburne has been a center of the Long Beach Peninsula community, as well as providing a sanctuary to artists, intellectuals and weary travelers the world over.

Some highlights from my stay at the Shelburne Hotel

THE HOTEL

The hotel is such a charming place. There is so much history here and when we arrived, they were finishing up decorating for the holidays.

Did you know that the Shelburne is a part of Adrift Hospitality? Other hotels that fall under the Adrift Hospitality are:

  • Shelburne Hotel – Seaview, Washington
  • Adrift Hotel and Spa – Long Beach, Washington
  • Bowline – Astoria, Oregon
  • Inn at Discovery Coast – Long Beach, Washington
  • Boardwalk Cottages – Long Beach, Washington
  • Ashore Hotel – Seaside, Oregon

What room did I stay in: I was booked in a king suite with a balcony. It is a large room with a balcony. The bathroom features a clawfoot tub, and there is a separate sitting area with a TV.

THE STAFF

The entire staff at the hotel was so friendly! Check in was quick and we even got to check in early. They did let us know that they do charge an early check in fee of about $20, so something to be aware of.

THE LOCATION

The Shelburne is located within walking distance to a few bars and restaurants including the North Jetty Brewery! Just a few minute drive down the street is the downtown area of Long Beach with shopping and even more restaurants. The beach is also located just a 3 minute drive from the Shelburne.

AMENITIES

At the Shelburne hotel, they have shuffle board, a pool table, live music on the weekends and the Shelburne Pub right on site.

Another bonus is that you can take advantage of the amenities at the nearby sister property, The Adrift. The Adrift has an awesome barrel sauna and covered, heated pool. If you are in the mood for a spa experience, The Adrift also has an on site spa.

What can you do near the Shelburne Hotel

Adrift Hotel

Address: 409 Sid Snyder Dr, Long Beach, WA 98631

We visited the Adrift Hotel to use the pool and barrel sauna! The Adrift is located only 3 minutes from the Shelburne Hotel and is a free amenity you can use when staying at the Shelburne Hotel.

Adrift Distillery

Address: 409 Sid Snyder Dr, Long Beach, WA 98631

While visiting the Adrift Hotel, be sure to stop by the Adrift distillery for a vodka, whiskey, gin and liqueur tasting! If you are staying at either the Adrift or Shelburne, you can get a complimentary tasting. My husband ended up buying a bottle of the white whiskey!

Shelburne Pub

Address: 4415 Pacific Way, Seaview, WA 98644

If you are looking for a cozy night in, then I recommend having dinner at the Shelburne Pub. We enjoyed clams, shared the rockfish and finished with a lemon creme brulee! Everything was delicious and we had fun chatting with the servers and bartenders.

Long Beach Boardwalk

Address: Unnamed Road, Long Beach, WA 98631

The boardwalk is a beautiful place to take a long stroll. You will be walking among the dunes and parallel to the ocean. There are a bunch of spots along the boardwalk that have informational signs. My favorite was this sign that showed all of the ship wrecks that have happened over the years.

Dylan’s Cottage Bakery and Delicatessen

Address: 118 Pacific Ave S, Long Beach, WA 98631

If you love baked goods, this is the place for you! If you also like breakfast sandwiches, be sure to check this place out. They open early, so it ended up being convenient for us.

North Jetty Brewery

Address: 4200 Pacific Way, Seaview, WA 98644

North Jetty is the only brewery in the Long Beach / Seaview area. We LOVE breweries, so I was so happy to see that this brewery was only 2 blocks from the Shelburne. North Jetty brews their own beer, including a seltzer. They said they brew around 15 beers, which is impressive!

Banana Books

Address: 114 3rd St SW, Long Beach, WA 98631

My latest obsession when traveling (besides visiting breweries) is to go in to bookstores. The owner at Banana was super friendly and he had such a variety of used books. It’s like a treasure hunt!

The Chowder Stop

Address: 203 Bolstad Ave, Long Beach, WA 98631

This spot was another Google Maps find! It was raining when we were there so we felt like a warm bowl of chowder. We each got a bowl of chowder and shared the grilled cheese! Definitely recommend eating here.

Take a day trip to Astoria, Oregon

Astoria, Oregon is only a 30 minute drive from Long Beach! It is a great town to check out if you are spending a few days on the coast. Here are some places to check out!

Buoy Beer Company

Address: 1 8th St, Astoria, OR 97103

Buoy is right on the waterfront so you can get some pretty great views. Be sure to try and cup of their chowder!

Astoria Brewing Company

Address: 144 11th St, Astoria, OR 97103

Another great spot on the waterfront. I recommend their strawberry hazy pale ale.

Fort George Brewery

Address: 1483 Duane St, Astoria, OR 97103

Come hungry to Fort George. We got the forest pizza, which was topped with a lot of mushrooms!

Reach Break Brewing

Address: 1343 Duane St, Astoria, OR 97103

Reach break has a lot full of food trucks which can make for a fun few hours! When we visited they were doing only outdoor seating under a tent.

Godfather’s Books

Address: 1108 Commercial St, Astoria, OR 97103

Godfather’s has a nice mixture of both new and used books. If you also want coffee you can get that here!

Lucy’s Books

Address: 951 Commercial St, Astoria, OR 97103

Lucy’s Books has such a nice selection of new books. The selection is small, but it is nicely curated.

The Rusty Cup

Address: 1213 Commercial St, Astoria, OR 97103

This is such a cute little coffee shop with really good breakfast sandwiches and breakfast burritos! I recommend their honey lavender latte as well.

Blaylock’s Whiskey Bar

Address: 433 13th St, Astoria, OR 97103

This spot was my favorite find in Astoria. This is a super cool speakeasy style whiskey bar with the most beautiful bar area. My husband enjoyed a few mixed cocktails and ended the night with the Glengoyne 10 year with a few rocks. Glengoyne is the distillery we visited outside of Edinburgh, Scotland back in 2017. We had never seen the scotch anywhere so he had to get it. I got the key lime drink and it was AMAZING! If you like key lime pie, you have to get this in drink form.

Tora Sushi Lounge

Address: 1197 Commercial St, Astoria, OR 97103

Tora ended up being a really good sushi spot! I got hot tea, miso soup, two sushi rolls and gyoza! I left very satisfied.

Wreck of Peter Iredale

Address: Peter Iredale Rd, Hammond, OR 97121

Just outside of Astoria in Warrenton, you can check out the wreck of Peter Iredale right at the beach. This wreck happened in 1906, so its pretty cool to check out and see what is left of the ship! It is mainly just the front hull at this point. When the tide goes out, you can walk all the way around it.
