Travel With Me: All About Las Vegas Cirque Du Soleil

As you may have read in one of my other posts called “A Guide to Las Vegas Hotels,” I have been to Las Vegas way to many times. Every time I go to Vegas, I try and see a new Cirque du Soleil show. I am absolutely in love with every single one I have seen and would recommend each one to you. There are a lot of differences though including cost, and I am here to give you my overall opinion!

Want to risk getting tickets the day of? For some of these productions, you can go to the Half Price Tix booths that are scattered all over the strip and try to snag some discounted seats for shows that haven’t sold out. The catch is that they are only available for the day of the show and sometimes you have to wait in a line to get them. You ALSO have to go to that theater to exchange your voucher for the tickets at least 2 hours before the show. We didn’t realize that until we bought tickets at a theater several hotels away. That walk can be terrible when its 100 degrees in the middle of the summer.

What is the best way to watch a Cirque show? Grab an alcoholic drink in the theater lobby and it will make it that much better!

O Located in the Bellagio

This was the very first Cirque du Soleil show that I saw. This show seriously set the bar high for every other Cirque show I have seen since. I find myself comparing all the other shows to this show. I booked the more expensive seats and got to sit about 5 rows from the stage. This show has a lot of water acts which are amazing to me. Another aspect of the show that really grabbed me was the music. I have grown up around music including the piano so music really speaks to me. I ended up loving the music so much that I downloaded the soundtrack! Here is what the “O” is about:

“Weaving a tapestry of artistry, surrealism and theatrical romance, ‘O’ pays tribute to the beauty of theatre. Inspired by the concept of infinity and the elegance of water, world-class acrobats, synchronized swimmers and divers create a breathtaking experience. Only at Bellagio, Las Vegas.”

Zumanity Located in New York New York

This is a great show to see if you are in Vegas with girlfriends. This is a sexy show filled with a lot of stunts and a lot of raunchy things. If that isn’t what you are in to, then I would skip it, but I REALLY enjoyed it. I went with girl friends for my birthday and we shared a lot of laughs. If you sit on an aisle, be prepared for some of the actors to come up to you.

Zumanity is a seductive twist on reality, making the provocative playful and the forbidden electrifying! Leave inhibitions at the door, let loose and marvel in a sexy thrill ride full of sensational acrobatics and naughty fun. Part burlesque and part cabaret, Zumanity is one full night you’ll never forget! Created for adults 18 and over. Only at New York-New York Hotel and Casino, Las Vegas.”

Mystere Located in Treasure Island

I have seen this twice and love it! There are a lot of bright colors and amazing acrobatics! Just wait for the fun surprise at the end of the performance.

“Powerful athleticism, high-energy acrobatics and inspiring imagery fill the air. Deemed a theatrical “flower in the desert,” Mystère thrills audiences with an exhilarating blend of whimsy, drama and the unimaginable. It offers the ultimate discovery that life itself is a mystery. Exclusive to Treasure Island.”

Ka Located in MGM

This is the most recent show that I saw when on a work trip. This show has a darker story line but it is still incredible. They do a great job of having sets that take up the entire stage as well as having some acts that go right out into the audience.

“KÀ, the unprecedented epic production by Cirque du Soleil takes adventure to an all-new level. Be awed by a dynamic theatrical landscape, as an entire empire appears on KÀ’s colossal stage. Live at MGM Grand, Las Vegas.”

La Reve located in the Wynn

La Reve isn’t officially a part of the Cirque Du Soleil family, but once you see it, you will be amazed that it isn’t put on by the same company. La Reve rivals as my 2nd favorite show behind “O.” The show also features a lot of water acts and the cool thing about this show is that the seats and show itself are a circle so you basically do not have a bad seat in the house. You can get away with getting the cheapest seats available.

“Voted “Best Production Show” in Las Vegas for an unprecedented seven consecutive years, Le Rêve – The Dream welcomes you into an exciting and mysterious world inside an incredible aqua theater-in-the-round. From a thrilling high dive to an underwater tango, the stunning performers and breathtaking aerial feats of strength and agility will mesmerize you from beginning to end. You’ll be sure to notice something you’ve never seen before in this liquid, and ever-evolving show. Experience Dénouement, the penultimate act in Le Rêve – The Dream, which features a daring dance through spectacular water and fire elements that currently stands as one of the greatest advancements in the show’s history. Dream big, see the best.”

The Beatles LOVE located in Mirage

Growing up, I didn’t listen to a ton of Beatles music so the music in this one didn’t resonate with me as much. There also weren’t as many amazing acrobatic acts as there were in some of the other shows. The cool part of this production was the audience participation. At one point, they had those parachutes you probably did when you were younger where the adults would hold it and shake it and the kids were underneath. We had one that the entire audience was under!

“New acts, costumes, choreography, technology and music bring a more vibrant and engaging experience to one of the most celebrated shows in the world. The three-time Grammy Award winning LOVE is a Rock ‘n’ Roll poem, inspired by the poetry of the lyrics and brought to life by a cast of world-class aerialists, acrobats and dancers. Music Director Giles Martin, son of the legendary Beatles producer, Sir George Martin, has heightened LOVE’s listening experience with a completely remixed soundtrack, noting “The show is the closest anyone can get to being in the studio with the band.”
