Travel With Me: Spring Break in Hawaii

My second (and last) post for my spring break week is all about my other college spring break trip to Hawaii! What better excuse to escape to this paradise than for spring break with friends! Below are some things we did that would make for an amazing trip to Hawaii, even if it isn’t during spring break!

Hotel

On this trip, we chose to stay at the Waikiki Gateway Hotel. It wasn’t directly on the beach but was in a great location to be able to walk everywhere. You also can’t beat the fact that we got this amazing room with two balconies that provided two very different views!

Travel Tip: Plan out some things you want site see and plot them out on Google Maps. It will give you an overview of where you will be going. I tend to try and stay central to these areas so I can walk and save on the cost of Ubers.

Beach

Obviously you have to take some time to relax at Waikiki Beach. It is the main beach in Honolulu and one you will probably visit naturally! The sand is amazing but it can be a bit crowded since it is right in the middle of downtown Honolulu. On our first day, we headed straight for the beach and experienced an amazing sunset!

Luau

If you have never been to a luau, it is something you have to do at least once in your life! I have been to Germaine’s Luau a few times and I love it! It is set right on a beach so you can hear the waves crashing as the sun goes down and watch Polynesian hula! You also get to watch the pig being pulled out of the pit!

Pearl Harbor

It is a sobering experience, but I think one that everyone should have. It is a great way to pay your respects and learn more about what happened

Snorkel

You can see some amazing fish, coral and maybe even a turtle! We rented snorkel equipment and walked out to Queen’s Beach. Let me just say, there are much better places to snorkel but we had fun. I would also recommend going to Honaunau Bay to see some great marine life!

Eat

There are so many good places to eat in Hawaii. I love eating loco moco, having a crepe to go right on the beach, and eating endless amounts of seafood.

Nightlife

We loved just walking around Waikiki and enjoying the street performances. I recommend checking out:

  • The Lanai
  • Duke’s Waikiki
  • Tiki’s Grill & Bar
